Throughout my time in the POHI major at Aquinas College, I have been a student member of the Association for Conductive Education in North America. The association officially began in 2006, with the goals of offering opportunities for continuing education of conductive education, promoting standards of quality conductive education programs, providing networking opportunities between conductors and parents, and increasing awareness of conductive education as an option for people with motor delays. There are now 40 conductive education centers in the ACENA organization, including the Conductive Learning Center of Grand Rapids, Michigan. As part of my membership in ACENA, as well as my training/education through the CLC, I was able to attend a few of the event of the 8th Annual ACENA Conference, which was held at Aquinas College. I look forward to using my ACENA membership to collaborate and network with other professionals in conducive education, as well as using it as a resource to expand my knowledge in the field.
