The purpose of this reflection was to understand the different ways that students learn and what we will do as teachers to try to meet those needs. There are many different learning styles. Some teachers only teach towards the styles that best suits them, the style that they themselves learn the best with. This often leaves students in the dark or left behind if they can't follow those techniques. To ensure that we are maximizing student achievement, we must understand and learn how to incorporate many different learning styles, throughout the day and even throughout a lesson. it would be even better if we could give students a choice to pick which ever way they want to learn. It shouldn't matter HOW they are learning the material as long as the ARE learning it.
Teaching students in their comfort learning zones will help them to better understand the material. This assignment helped me to realize that. I think it is much harder to teach outside of our own learning zone, but it is something that is necessary for optimal student learning. I think that I will still need to do more research and practice how to incorporate each style more specifically, but I am happy that I had this opportunity to learn about the different learning styles that children may have. I also want to learn more ways of how to assess the same learning that has been done through different styles.
